Councillor Kate Walsh in Hyndburn runs a Baby Bank where parents can get hold of second hand clothes, milk and other items for their children at no cost. The Baby Bank works under Hyndburn Hub and uses their volunteers to deliver the packs of necessities to homes using contact free delivery.
Kate said, “I originally set Hyndburn Baby Bank in January following the birth of my second child. I wanted to help families that who maybe struggling financially and those that my not have a support system around them.
“Since COVID19 we have seen the levels of need rise exponentially. We used to help two or three families a week but we are now helping two or three families a day. We are able to do this by working alongside our local Hub and tapping into their extensive network of volunteers. It’s been a challenge and a huge team effort.”
